Why are you considering a coach?
There are as many answers to this question as there are athletes.  You might be at a plateau and looking to take your training to another level.  You might be looking to set a PR or to move up in your age group.  You might be training for a new distance and need help in your race preparation.  You may be a busy professional and need to maximize your limited training time. Or your goal simply may be to improve your overall fitness and quality of life.  Every athlete is unique and every athlete’s needs are different.

Why work with Bob McEnaney?
Athlete individuality is the cornerstone of my coaching philosophy.  My overriding goal as a coach is to help you, the athlete, achieve and surpass your unique and individual goals.  To support this belief, I work with a very limited number of clients at any one time.

Our first step is to develop your individual yearly training plan based on your unique talents, goals and available training time.  The next step is field testing, a process which will help set your training parameters (heart rate and/or power measurement and pace).  Utilizing this information, I will begin the process of creating weekly goals and daily workout schedules which will fit into a plan to help you peak for your key events/races.

Development of the Annual Training Plan is critical, as is the development and adherence to the individual training sessions.  However, the most important element of the entire coach/athlete relationship is communication.  My priority is to promote a free flow of information between us.  Quick response to any issues that arise will allow us to make timely adjustments and get back on track.

I have coached athletes of all ages, genders and ability levels for over 30 years, and have competed in triathlon, cycling and running races of all distances since 1981.  I know coaching, I know athletes, and I am dedicated to helping you succeed.

In addition to my personal experience in coaching and racing, I am certified as a professional Triathlon coach through USA Triathlon and as a Cycling coach through USA Cycling.  I am also certified as a Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), and hold a Sports Fitness Specialist advanced certification through NASM.  This combination puts me in a unique position to combine functional strength and conditioning into your endurance training and other parts of your life.
